Grand Knight's Newsletter Jan. 2015
Worthy Brothers All,
Happy New Year,
The new year,2015, represents another opportunity for us to live our core values of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity.
Through volunteer service our Council may continue to help our families and community. Let us continue to follow our theme for recruitment, “ One new member per month”. When we all work together as a team we can achieve our goal. “There is no i in team, but there is in win.” Michael Jordan.
“Together we could be an enormous force for good in a world that so obviously needs the love of God and love of neighbor, which are reflected in our work.” Carl A. Anderson, Supreme Knight.
Thank you very much Brother Paul and Judy Marquie for hosting our Council Epiphany Party in their beautiful home Jan 4. It was an evening of family fellowship and the best potluck dinner ever.
Thanks to Council members Shawn Reidy, Jim and Rose Maasch, Ed and Liz Reidy, Ed Padillo, and Jack Crutchfield for making our Tecate Outreach on Sat. Jan. 10 a success. We served almost 200 meals to the orphans, Religious Sisters, and volunteers at Nazareth Orphanage in Tecate, Mexico. In addition we delivered personal gifts to four preselected orphans with funds donated by Brother Ed Paige. We also delivered $500 in school supplies donated by the generous members of Santa Sophia Parish. Melissa Hiatt also made the trip with us and presented the Sisters and orphans with gifts and school supplies donated by the Junior Catholic Daughters. It was a beautiful day and the delicious meals we served were prepared by Brothers Paul Marquie, Ed Padillo, Shawn Reidy, Jason Reidy, and Liz Reidy. The Knights and their family members helped to make the orphans Epiphany celebration special. Our next Tecate outreach will be Sat. March 21.
On January 17, all Southern California Knights are invited to participate in the Walk for Life in LA. Bus transportation is available at ten locations in San Diego County. Check out our Council website for details.
On Friday, Jan 23, 8:30 am, Deputy Grand Knight Pat Esquibel and I will present Noah Homes with a donation check of almost $3000. Our donation will be matched by Noah’s Ark Angel Foundation. All Council members and their families are invited to the event and a tour of Noah Homes immediately after the presentation.
