Worthy Brothers All,
Our Columbian year is almost over, and it is time to thank all my Brother Knights and their families for making these past 12 months inspirational. I have been blessed and humbled to have a front row seat to view your amazing generosity and courage. We can take pride in our many accomplishments, craft beer tasting, intellectual disabilities fund drive that resulted in almost six thousand dollars contributed to Noah Homes, wine tasting, turkey dinner, Lenten Friday fish dinners, Sweetheart Dance, Tecate Nazareth Orphanage outreach, and a thousand dollar Catholic high school scholarship to name a few. We have welcomed seven Catholic gentlemen to our Council. New members instructed through your actions the meaning of our core values of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. The new Columbian year will bring new leadership and new opportunities to serve in Christ’s name. We look forward to supporting our new leadership team, Grand Knight Patrick Esquibel and Deputy Grand Knight Greg Villard and renewing our efforts to support our Parish and larger community. To achieve our full potential as a Catholic organization we must avoid the potential dangers of complacency. Be the Difference my Brothers, get involved, stay engaged. Thanks to Brother Knights Ed Padillo, Matt Navedo, and Victor Lopez for their dedicated work at the bar during our May 31 Founder’s Day Dinner. Thanks to Brother Vince Garra for planning and hosting our annual altar servers party at Round Table Pizza on June 2. Father Devdas personally thanked and awarded certificates of achievement to more than 25 Santa Sophia altar servers. Tim Riemann received special recognition for twenty years of service! On June 3, Leo McGarry and I were pleased to award a one thousand dollar scholarship to Nicole Stepovich at the Santa Sophia Academy 8th grade awards ceremony. Nicole will apply the award towards tuition this fall at Our Lady of Peace Catholic High School. Congratulations Nicole, God Bless. June 19 Brother Paul Villard’s memorial will be held at Santa Sophia. A reception will be at Prendergast Hall immediately afterward. If you would like to prepare a meal item for the reception potluck please contact me at ereidy@aol.com . June 21, the 11 AM Mass will be Father Jacob’s Farewell Mass with a reception to follow. June 28, 1-3 PM will be our New Officers Installation and Awards Ceremony with lunch. July 18, we will hold our annual Craft beer tasting event. Contact Brother John Martin if you would like to help. We ask that you remember in your prayers Brother Paul Villard, Gisela McGarry, Pam Kay, and Brother Ed Paige. It has been a high honor and privilege to serve as your Grand Knight. God Bless! Yours in Christ, Ed Reidy |
