Greetings and welcome to the new Columbian year for Valle de Oro Council 9332.
I wish to express my appreciation to you for selecting me to serve you as this year’s Grand Knight. At the same time, I wish to thank my predecessor, Pat Esquibel, for guiding our Council as Grand Knight through the past highly successful and very fun filled year. My goal is for all of us to continue to work together as Brothers in the spirit of Father Michael J. McGivney with Charity, Unity, and Fraternity and have another great year. Based on our past history, we are a very active Council. My intentions for this year are to continue the same programs and activities as we have conducted in prior years. Also, I am hoping to add three new programs /activities this year – a games night, a Knights on Hikes activity, and a Knights Wheel Chair program (part of the National Knights of Columbus Wheelchair program). I will inform you of the details for these new programs/activities as they develop. Coming up this weekend, Saturday, July 23rd is our third annual craft beer tasting. As one of our major fundraisers, this event features tastings from 7 local craft breweries, great food, cigar lounge, games, raffles, and music from our Brother DJ, Billy Eatmon. Tickets can be purchased online on the Council’s website or at the door. Please plan to attend and invite your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. For more information on this event, visit the Council website. Thank you Brother John Martin, for chairing this event again this year. Also this weekend, Father Devdas will be conducting a special blessing of the newly renovated Hall following the 8 a.m. Mass on Sunday. After the Mass, there will be a Santa Sophia Kids Chorale concert. Father Devdas has asked us to provide a continental breakfast for the occasion for all attendees, which we have agreed to do. All Knights and their families are invited to attend. The Reidy family from our Council has been selected Knights Family of the Year by the San Diego Chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Congratulations to the Reidy family and thank you to the San Diego Chapter for choosing such a well deserving family for this honor. Please remember to wear your Knights of Columbus name badges to whatever Mass that you attend. This action will hopefully promote our Council and assist us in gaining new members. If you haven’t been to a meeting in a while, plan on attending this Thursday night and reacquaint yourself with your Brothers and find out what is currently being planned in your Council. I hope to see you all at the business meeting. Vivat Jesus Greg Villard Grand Knight |
