Grand Knight's Report October 2013- WGK ED Dondero

  Brothers,

     It has been a busy month for Valle de Oro Council and our church. The October 8th fire at Santa Sophia has meant some changes for parish life, but thanks to the hard work of the parish staff we are able to carry on with some sense of normalcy. I would like to express my gratitude to the many Knights that responded to the urgent requests of Father Jacob for help. The Knights were able to provide traffic direction for both the academy and the parish on several occasions, undertake a night watch on the church, and help with the setup of Prendergast Hall for the weekend Masses. 
     We held a wonderful Wine Tasting event on September 21st with current and formal priests serving wine. Bishop Flores also attended and said the 4:30 Mass with a fantastic 4th Degree Color Corps presence. Also on that day, there were 10 Knights that made the trip to Tecate for the Catholic orphanage outreach. The next Tecate Outreach will be November 9th. Please contact Dr. Ed Reidy, DGK if you would like to attend. 
     Please don't forget about the Annual Intellectual Disabilities Drive this weekend. Please help support people with intellectual disabilities by giving generously. If you can help pass out Tootsie Rolls, you help is most welcome. This is a great family event. Children love doing this and are much better at it. It is a great way to get your family involved. 
     Finally, I would like to congratulate both Father Curtiss Dwyer and Brother Shawn Reidy on completing their 3rd Degree Exemplification on October 5th. Welcome to full Knighthood brothers.
