Worthy Brothers All:
Jesus challenged the powerful with His teachings and that made him a very dangerous man. He changed everything when he put compassion above tradition, love above law, people above institutions. As a result, Holy Week will recount the story of political corruption, moral cowardice, religious hypocrisy, and the violent execution of an innocent man. Jesus will be betrayed by a follower, arrested, denied by those He trusted the most, subjected to a mock trial, and sentenced to death by a Roman Governor. Yet, two thousand years later we know His death to be a victory. As Catholic gentlemen and Knights of Columbus we commit to follow His teachings and in doing so we become His messengers. Thanks to Lenten Fish Dinner director Vince Garra and all our Brother Knights that have contributed to provide an all star menu every Friday. It is a meal service everyone in our parish community looks forward to having every week. Congratulations to Brother Daniel and Lexi Cummings on the birth of their first child Jolie Noelle. We wish their family every blessing and happiness. Congratulations to Damien Bloemendaal on winning the Chapter Basketball free throw contest. We wish him all the best at the State Championship in Fresno next week. Godspeed Damien. Thanks to Membership director Brother Ed Dondero and all the Knights that helped make our Founders Day membership drive a success. One of the most important things we can do as Knights is give a fellow Catholic gentleman the gift of membership. Congratulations to our Worthy Deputy Grand Knight Patrick Esquibel on his selection as State Knight of the Month. An award so rare our Council had only heard about it until he won it. Way to go Pat, well deserved. Many Thanks to the Sweetheart Dinner Dance committee, Our leader Brother Jack Crutchfield, and everyone made the event a success. In the end our council showed a profit of almost $1200. Funds that will be given to selected charities at the end of the Columbian year. Rumor has it we have already booked a date for the event in 2016. So don’t lose your dancing shoes. Our State Convention will be held at Town and Country in Mission Valley May 14-17. Our Council has contributed $75 toward a hospitality room for the event. Our Council has proudly contributed $100 toward the Priests Golf Tournament at Cottonwood May 20. If you would like to volunteer to help host the Chapter meeting Sat Mar 21, 10 am-2 pm at Prendergast Hall contact DGK Pat Esquibel. If you have a current passport and would like to take part in our Tecate Outreach to the Nazareth Orphanage Sat Mar 21 contact GK Ed Reidy Brother Victor Lopez will prepare breakfast for blood donors Sunday Mar 22 at 8 AM. Call him or stop by the kitchen that morning if you can help. “If we pray, we will believe, If we believe, we will love, If we love, we will serve.” Mother Teresa Comments are closed.
