Worthy Brother all-
A Merry and Blessed Christmas; And a Happy and Prosperous New Year! We head to the end of this calendar year on a positive note, thanks to the hard work of many individuals acting as one to make each event and fundraiser a success. Our Salute to Veterans and Military Families was a new event that was a wonderful success and something that struck a chord with our Parish community. We already have plans to do this next year. Fr. Devdas told himself that he really appreciated the involvement of other parish groups such as the FilAm, Catholic Daughters and Boys Scouts in our event. We had two(2) Pancake Breakfasts in the month of November, headed by Br. Jerry Kay. Special mention goes to many of our newest members: Ismael Negrete, Barry Coleman, Jerry Mendoza, Anthony Opalek, and Juan Carlos Gomez-just to name a few. Thanks Brothers! [If I left out anyone, I apologize] I would like to welcome all our new members who joined this Fall: Juan Carlos Gomez, Andy Crabtree, Edmond Kugblenu, and Michael Lutz. Vivat Jesus! so far your showing an enthusiasm that exemplifies some of the four principles of the Knights of Columbus. Our Annual Christmas Turkey Dinner was another success. Many thanks to the co-chairmen: Jack Crutchfield and Jerry Kay. Special thank also to Debbie Crutchfield for her contribution as well. What impressed me the most was how everyone came together at the end to help out and make the dinner happen. Vivo Cristo Rey! We have a few events coming up such as the 5th Sunday Rosary on Dec. 31st, the Epiphany Party-hosted by Br. Faris and his wife Sana (thanks) on Saturday, Jan. 6th. We make our favorite Christmas trip to Nazareth Orphanage in Tecate on Sat. Jan 13th, to deliver not just a hot meal but presents too! Feliz Navidad! There will be two(2) opportunities for our new members to obtain their 2nd(Formation) and 3rd(Knighthood) degrees: Thurs. Jan 4th(2nd) and Sunday, Jan. 14th (3rd). Those of you who have made either your 1st or 2nd degrees-please try to make either one of these dates. There will be the "Walk for Life" happening here in San Diego and throughout the state on Saturday, January 20th. I will email details in a couple of weeks. The next BIG event will be the "50s sock Hop/Happy Days Dance" on Saturday, February 10th; an event that the Youth Ministry Group will assist and present some dance numbers and skits. There will be an "All-You-Can -Eat" hamburgers and hot dogs, cooked on demand; as well as milkshakes and ice cream sold by the Youth Ministry Group. So get your leather jackets, jeans and ladies your poodle skirts dusted off! Remember, to wear your K of C blue shirts (button-down or polo) and name tags/plates at church and if you haven't been to a meeting in a while-please do. we'd like to see you!
