Worthy Brother Knights:
From an address of Pope Francis: God calls you to make definitive choices, and he has a plan for each of you. Some are called to holiness through family life in the sacrament of marriage. Today, there are those who say that marriage is out of fashion. They say that it is not worth making a life-long commitment, making a definitive decision "forever", because we do not know what tomorrow will bring. I ask you, instead, to be revolutionaries . . . to rebel against this culture that sees everything as temporary and that ultimately believes you are incapable of responsibility, that believes you are incapable of true love. (Building the Domestic Church - The Family Fully Alive) As announced earlier this week, Brother Larry Murphy passed away on Monday, April 11th. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 26th, at 10:00 am at Santa Sophia Church, with a rosary prayer service at 9:30 am sponsored by CDA, prior to the funeral mass. There will be a reception following the service in the DeMoor Room sponsored by the CDA and the K of C Council 9332. Remember to pray for the repose of the soul of our departed Brother, and pray for his wife Chris Murphy, and his family. Also , let us pray for our beloved former pastor Rev. The Sixth Avenue Bistro was recently visited by Knights of Columbus Brothers and Wives in support of Janet, long time parishioner and supporter of the Knights. It was a very nice luncheon with delicious food, interesting conversation and great company. If you have received your April 2016 COLUMBIA magazine, please take a few minutes to read and reflect on the article titled "Masculine Spirituality" Catholic men are called to report for combat duty on the front lines of faith. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. A very good article on men and their Catholic Faith. As a gentle reminder, due to the Knights of Columbus State Convention being held on May 19, 20, and 21, 2016, our monthly business meeting will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016. As always, please remember to wear your Knights of Columbus "name plate" to mass. Do you know a Catholic Gentleman that is 18 years or older? Enrich his life and give him a membership in the Knights. Every Knight is a recruiter. Let's all continue to work together in the spirit of Fr. Michael J. McGivney with Charity, Unity, and Fraternity! If you have not been to a meeting in a while, plan on attending this Thursday and reacquaint yourself with your brothers, and what is currently being planned in your council. I hope to see you this week. Comments are closed.
