![]() Greetings Worthy Brothers! We are already into the Lenten Season and that means Fish Dinners!☺ More about that later..... During the past month a number of important events occured. The Catholic movie night, featuring "The Investigator" was shown on Friday, Jan. 19th to a modest crowd, yet everyone enjoyed it. On that same morning of Jan. 19th-DGK Leo McGarry, PGK Greg Villard and myself went to Noah Homes to present the Columbian Foundation check for the ID Fund which was held in October 2017. The amount of $3293.00 was presented to a grateful staff. Our Lady of the Rosary Church Knights Council was also there to present their donation as well. All donations were matched by the Noah's Ark Foundation. It's always gratifying to know that our hard work during the ID Drive bears such good fruit! The "Walk for Life" took place on Saturday, Jan. 20th. It was well attended by many in the San Diego area. An estimated crowd of 3,000(?) were there to support the Pro Life movement and an end to abortion. On Tuesday, Jan. 30th, PGK Pat Esquibel and PGK Greg Villard presented the Santa Sophia Academy 8th Grade Essay contest winners: 1st Place-Irma Ester Quintong, 2nd Place-Sarah Melcher and 3rd Place-Olivia Gonzales-CONGRATULATIONS Finally, Saturday, February 10th, we held our 1st -50s Sock Hop/Happy Days Dance in conjunction with the Santa Sophia Youth Ministry. Many thanks go to PGK Pat Esquibel for a FANTASTIC job of organizing a super cool 50s style dance. Thanks also goes to WB Dan Cummings and his band of merry Youth ministry students who made the evening fun and entertaining. Thanks also to DJ Billy Eatmon and his daughter Bonnie for keeping the place rockin' all around the clock♫ with great oldies from the fifties and early sixties. Of course thanks to all of you who attended and helped our Council with this fundraiser. Remember-all proceeds go to our charities at the end of the year. Vivat Jesus! This leads us now to our Lenten Fish Dinners starting Friday, Feb. 16th at 4:30 pm to ~ 6:30 pm in Prendergast Hall. Each Friday from now until March 16th, we will be showing off our culinary skills to the Parish, Starting with Fish & Chips, followed by Shark, Teriyaki Glazed Salmon, Swordfish and ending with Shrimp Pasta. I want to give a special thanks to WB Jim Maasch for taking over the purchasing of all the food and supplies. He has helped me in many ways to organize these dinners. We definitely miss Br. Vince Garra(RIP) during this time of the year! So tell everyone you know to come and have a great fish dinner for only $10!!!
