Greetings Worthy Brothers of Council 9332!
Well we are almost through the lenten season already and so far our Lenten fish dinners have been well received, yet not as well attended as we would like or need them to be. Nevertheless, I would like to thanks EVERYONE who has come out to help make these dinners work: Eric Drake, Van Fritzenkotter, Ed Reidy, Leo McGarry, Gary Glenn, Chuck Zimmer, Bobby Schaefer, Eddie Padillo, Chuck D'Anna, Martin Teachworth, Mike Lutz, Dennis Bauer, Jerry Kay Greg Villard, Paul Melcher and his family, Sam Caeti, Ed Dondero, John Kruzel and many more. An extra special thanks goes to Jim Maasch who has put A LOT of time and effort purchasing the fish, side items and materials for all these meals. Hip, hip hooray! We finished the Basketball Free contest on February 25th, with SSA student Mark Smith winning 1st Place trophy in the 14 yr old category. I'd like to thank Chuck Zimmer for taking the lead in getting this event put together and completed. The state championship will take place in Fresno this year on March 17th-this Saturday!! It is service award time and our officers and I are busy finishing up the write ups, culling together photos, etc. So we can again win our collection awards at this year's State Convention in May in Sacramento. Hopefully we will be bringing back 1st and 2nd Place awards. Deadline is April 1st!! Next month we will be participating in the "Raise The Roof" Concert in Santa Sophia Church on Friday, April 13th. The Martin Luther King Metropolitan Gospel Choir is the featured guest along with the Santa Sophia Kids Chorale. Our council will provide wine for the social hour starting at 6pm. Please stop by the kiosk after masses and at the Lenten fish dinners to purchase tickets. We need to support our parish and see that our church's roof is repaired. tickets are only $25.00 per person (that includes the wine and appetizers) Children are $5.00 each. Starting next month, we will also be making a serious effort at recruitment. We are in need of 9 more members to make our expected quota. Please talk to your friends, family members and even coworkers about the Knights and what a difference it has made in your life of faith and in your community. Not only engage your male friends and coworkers but don't forget to talk to their wives(or girlfriends)-they have influence too and are more likely to convince the guys that it's a good thing to join the Knights. We have had a very good year so far and it's all because we all have banded together as brothers, as we should. Let's keep this momentum going! Vivat Jesus! Deus lo vult! (God wills it) For those brother who STILL have NOT paid their dues--PLEASE CONTACT GARY GLENN ASAP! Don't forget your obligation to our council. Your dues help make it possible to continue the charity work that is the Knights of Columbus raison d'être. Take advantage NOW and click on the button below.
