Grand Knight's Report July 2018 GK Leo McGarry

• Welcome fellow brothers to a new Columbian year. I want to thank you for allowing me to be your Grand Knight this year.

1. A new Emphasis from Supreme which will Be adapted this Columbian year has been forwarded but not yet absorbed.  More will be available at next month’s meeting once we have had a chance to finish the reading and absorbed what its impact will be on what we will be doing this year.  Its title is “Faith in Action” which indicates an increase in the spiritual emphasis we will soon see in the Knights of Columbus.

• Today I was approached by Dotty Sparks (619) 490-8071 to see if we could provide a representative to attend an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Celebration this Sunday in Prendergast Hall at 3:00 PM.  It is to honor a Santa Sophia Eagle Scout who has demonstrated courage and saved two lives.  He is Scout Samuel Da Luz Almeida.  Many dignitaries from the area will be attending to honor this Eagle Scout.  Many of them are first responders as well as public dignitaries such as a Representative from Senator Joel Anderson’s office, the 71st Assembly Representative, Sheriff deputies, Police and Firemen are scheduled to attend.  A representative from the K of C would be welcome along with their wife.  Since food will be served and would provide your spouse with relief from cooking. Eagle Scout Almeida contributed to the parish by redesigning the landscape for the pantry and assisting in its finalization.
• Upcoming events: 5th Sunday Rosary- Pat Esquibel will report on that later, VBS BBQ-Martin Teachworth (if present) will report on the planning and progress.

I look forward for our Council to succeed in all our events, both fundraisers and charity activities. Together, I know we can add on to the previous years with the same commitment and purpose as we have always done. So that by next May, we can bring home many awards!​
