Worthy Brother Knights,
"True power is service" Pope Francis It has been reported that the Knights of Columbus have set a new record last year in Charitable giving, with over $170 million dollars and 70.5 million volunteer service hours valued at more than $1.6 Billion dollars. Through our core principles of charity, unity, and fraternity we carry on Father McGivney's vision and mission as evangelizers in the world today. On Saturday,September 20th we made our first trip of the season to Nazareth Orphanage(Now known as Outreach for Nazareth) to provide a hot meal. Special thanks to Jack Crutchfield, Ed Padillo, Shawn Reidy, James Maasch our grill master, and Jerry Kay for joining me on our trip. More than 120 orphans, Sisters and volunteers were served a delicious meal and many hundreds of dollars of food donated by our parish Saint Vincent de PaulFood Pantry was delivered to the orphanage kitchen. On Saturday, September 27th, nine of our Council members achieved their Third Degree. Congratulations to Brothers John Martin, Alain Cummings, Daniel Cummings, Paul Jonna, Dean Krenz, George McWalter, Dean Murray, Mathew Navedo, and Thomas Volkman. On Thursday, October 2nd , Mrs. Debbie Crutchfield won the Intellectual Disabilities Drive Charger tickets raffle. Congratulations Debbie and Go Chargers! This month we received a final report about two major fund raising events. Our beer tasting event raised almost $1800 net and our wine tasting event showed a net profit of more than$4600. Our Council is truly blessed to have so many talented and hard working members and their families. They made those events a success and had a lot of fun too. We also were reminded this month that God's Blessings can arrive in small packages. Congratulations to PGK Tom Hiatt and his wife Melissa on the birth of their daughter, Aria Faith. We are all proud of PGK Paul Melcher and Family upon hearing that they were selected California State Council's Family of the Month as well as a Supreme Council Honoree for August. On Saturday, Oct. 11th, Br.Vince and Diana Garra along with Br.Shawn Reidy, DGK Patrick Esquibel, and GK prepared and served lunch to 50 participants of the Father-Son retreat held at our Parish. Many thanks to Brother Faris Auro and Da Vinci's for providing the main course, some very delicious sandwiches. The weekend of October11 and 12 our Council held memberships drive. Many thanks to DGK and Leo McGarry, Shawn Reidy, Vince Garra, Robert Schaefer and everyone for their contribution to the event. We had several interested potential new members.
