Honor Flight San Diego Our Mission Honor Flight San Diego (HFSD) is a non-profit branch of the nationwide Honor Flight Network which consists of over 130 independent “hubs” across America. HFSD escorts veterans to Washington, D.C. to see their memorials using monies donated by individuals, foundations, associations, business owners and corporations who wish to recognize our veterans’ contributions and thank them for their service and sacrifice to the United States and its citizens.
Top priority for our trips is given to the most senior veterans, currently World War II and Korea War veterans, and to veterans who have terminal illnesses.
Of all of the wars in recent memory, World War II truly threatened our very existence as a nation and as a culturally diverse and free society. With hundreds of World War II veterans passing away each day, the opportunity to express our sincere thanks to these brave men and women is running out.
Our Korea War veterans were called to serve just five short years after our WWII veterans in what is called “The Forgotten War.” The time for honoring these men and women is growing short as well.
We say thank you to all of our veterans and extend a special thanks to our most senior veterans for their dedication and commitment to protecting the freedoms enjoyed by so many here in the greatest nation on earth, the United States of America.
We invite our veterans to join us on your “Tour of Honor” and we hope everyone else can provide a donation that will help support these memorable trips.
Sincerely,
David A. Smith

Brother Marco Mendoza donated $1000 to our council to purchase wheelchairs for the Veteran Wheelchair Fund. The Knights of Columbus and the Global Wheelchair Mission have teamed up to help bring wheelchairs to veterans who lack freedom of mobility.
For every $150 received by the Global Wheelchair Mission, It can deliver a brand new wheelchair to a disabled veteran.
Marco is a former Naval Officer and veteran who deeply cares about our disabled veterans.
Thank you Brother Marco for your generous donation to our disabled veterans in need.

Congratulations to SSA 8th Grade student Katie Evans. She won the $1000.00 Scholarship Award for 2016 with her submitted essay and application. She is an excellent student with a 4.0 GPA. She has chosen to attend Our Lady of Peace Academy High School.
We would like to thank Katie and her father Chris Evans for visiting our council during our monthly business meeting to thank us for the award. Katie definitely showed the qualities we look for in each student who applies for this award. We also give a "tip of the hat" to Katie's parents, Diane and Chris, for raising a young girl with solid manners and Catholic values.
Thanks again to the Council 9332 Scholarship Committee members: Randy Klotz- Chairman, Greg Villard, GK Pat Esquibel, PGK Ed Dondero, PGK Ed Reidy, Paul Melcher, and Vince Garra
for another successful selection! Vivat Jesus!
